Meth Cleaners
Meth Cleaning is so difficult that there is yet to be a single global method of removing meth contamination from every surface. Every meth decontamination company has its own methodology and process. Some meth cleaners are good, some are not.
When you engage meth cleaners ask these 4 questions:
- If the property is tested and it still has some meth residue present, do you return to give the property a second decontamination at no extra cost to me?
Appropriate Answer – Yes, we will return a second and third time, or until all meth residue levels are at safe levels.
- How many times are you willing to return before you start charging me extra?
Appropriate Answer – Good meth cleaners will always come back around 3 times before discussing a different approach. Sometimes this might be encapsulation, or it might be returning a fourth time if the levels have been continually coming down.
- Do you ever remove window frames, door frames, doors, or any other part of the property?
Good meth cleaners will never remove window frames, door frames or other structural parts of the property. This is a cheat method by bad meth cleaners who simply do not have the skill or experience to clean these areas. Their answer is simply pull them off and throw them away, problem solved. This just adds expense to the property owner post decontamination.
- Do you abide by the 2019 Voluntary Code of Practice (link to document) written by Australia leading expert in the field of meth contamination, Dr. Jackie Wright?
Dr Wright is the for most expert in Australia. Dr Wright co-authored the federal Governments 2011 Clandestine Drug Laboratory Remediation Guidelines. In 2019 she released a Voluntary Code of Practice that focused on guiding the testing and decontamination of properties that were contaminated by people smoking meth rather than cooking meth.
It’s worth spending a bit of time looking for a good meth cleaner that has experience and follows best practice, there are still a few of us out there.
